My Hurst SST came in this week so I got up and got in the garage this morning to swap it in. I've been running the Steeda Tri-Ax for several years now, but I always liked the look of the Hurst chrome stick and used this kit on a Hurst Billet/Plus shifter in several 87-93 Mustangs.

I created this gif showing 1st and 2nd gear positions for all of them. The order you're seeing is:

  1. Stock
  2. Tri-Ax handle up
  3. Tri-Ax handle down
  4. Hurst SST

Please forgive the general dirtiness of my car, didn't want to clean it up before I went getting it dirty again swapping these shifters around. :)

I couldn't locate my stock shifter knob so the stock images have the Fat Knob on there. It didn't want to go on as easy as it had on the Tri-Ax so I just didn't force it, it can sit all the way down against the boot.

If anybody wants to send me an MGW I'll gladly redo it next weekend. :)

It's definitely tall. I always preferred the Tri-Ax in the 'handle up' position and couldn't stand the Pro 5.0 I tried that was super short. It'll take driving for a couple of weeks to see if I prefer it to the Tri-Ax. The throw feels a little bit shorter with the Hurst and it's not as 'all business' as the Tri-Ax. I guess that's what most people mean when they say the Tri-Ax is notchy.
