Shifter Problems, Need HELP ASAP!

hey,

a friend of mine just changed the rear main seal on my 91 5.0. now i find my shifter is having trouble getting into gears, also, it has trouble getting into reverse and grinds all the time now.

it use to be easy to row through the gears and never grind going into reverse, any ideas? clutch cable not adjusted properly ? i just got it back today and only put around 20miles on it, and i dont want to drive it anymore. cause i really have to force it to get into gear

thanks

yeah, good chance of being the cable...just look everything over thoroughly, little things can often cause big problems. you should have about an inch to 1 1/2" of clutch play at the most, so if yours goes halfway to the floor before you feel tension, there's a good chance it's loose.

just ck'ing, but, there is fluid in it right?

Reverse normally does grind on most T5's.

I like the clutch adjustment idea too. Sounds like too much freeplay (like Tex said).
On a stock clutch quadrant, pull up on the pedal. Aftermarket: adjust accordingly (FWA, at the fork, etc).

Good luck.
