Shifter/tranny problem suggestions

Driving the other day shifted into 3rd *loud pop* from the shifter area. Now when i shift into 2nd,3rd its REALLY notchy and sometimes it almost feels like the shifter is a string with a weight on the bottom, kinda hard to explain.




Any ideas? The car does have some kind of short shifter on it. It feels as if the linkage would need to be adjusted but, t-5's dont have linkage to my knowledge or so ive been told.

Pull the boot from around the shifter first to see if something came loose there. If nothing is wrong there then I would say it's time to drop the tranny and break her open. It's not a real difficult task to do. Disassembling the tranny pieces(gears/shift forks/sychros) is kind of a pain but you probably won't go that far unless something is broken and then you will probably have to go to a tranny shop to take the pressed on parts off the shafts.

alright thanks. im hoping for something up with the short shifter and not the tranny itself
