Is it just me or does the shift from 1st to 2nd usually feel kind of "clunky" ... ive felt this in two v6's and now that I got my GT (02) its the same thing. Is this just me? Am i doing something wrong? (btw by clunky I mean that you really feel the jolt when you shift, which doesn't happen in the other gears)

I am not sure, but I think that this is normal. When you say jolt, do you mean that the car bucks forward after you shift into 2nd gear and accelerate? The main problem that 2nd gear has on the Mustang is that it's sometimes hard to get the shifter into 2nd gear or 2nd gear grinds when you shift into 2nd gear.

I am not sure what you really mean by feeling a jolt. Do you mean that the shifter shaft and handle buck forwards and backwards when you shift into 2nd gear? Please explain the jolting to me. Thanks.

My car does the exact same thing. It does'nt grind but I feel
a clunk or thud when going into second. I'm sure its the infamous
tranny problem that is a sticky at the top of this forum.
When I shift slow it does not do it.

my T-45 in 01GT is natchy frst to second. kinda hard to shift and match RPM sometimes. Especialy, when you trying to drive nice and slow

Ya i got the same problem, the T-45's can be pretty crappy at times too. I mean they both come from Tremec :(

Don't forget the grind in to reverse on T-45. I read the review way back when that T-45 (might been TR3650) is smooth & bullitproof tranny. wghat was they smoking???

You ALWAYS need to put it into 1st gear and THEN you put it into Reverse. NEVER go into Reverse without putting it into 1st gear. The reason why the T-45 and the Tremec 3650 transmission grinds is because there are NO Reverse Synchros in these transmissions. That's why you ALWAYS have to put the gears into 1st before you attempt to put it into Reverse. The Ford Technical Bulletins tell you to always do this. If you don't, you can damage your reverse gear with the grinding.
