Shifting while racing

When you race do you chirp 2nd gear or do you slip the clutch?

I'm curious which gives the best times. Usually when I do any racing I'll pop the clutch and stomp it and it'll chirp 2nd (not 3rd though). I'm not powershifting (keeping the pedal to the floor and not letting off) but it does chirp. Also, I tried power shifting and it didn't seem fast enough for me to justify. All it managed to do was fishtail the car instead of chirp.

it all depends on the track, tires you are using. on street tires i lift to shift into 2nd. but on slicks, my right foot never comes off of the floor and the slicks chirp in every gear

good question, i was wondering this myself. i can spin through 2nd and chirp 3rd, even w/ my brand new 275s, but when im racing , i try not to even chirp 2nd. im kinda unsure which is better tho.

I just dump the clutch when I shift to second. The tires either chirp, or spin. At the track alot of times they spin! Kinda sucks. I need to get some traction

I haven't been to the track with my car but if I'm really gettin on it I shift fast for 1-2 obtaining a chirp or slight spin then I powershift 3rd for a chirp and sometimes it kicks sideways a little. If I don't powershift 3rd I can't seem to get a chirp, and it seems slower. My clutch may be goin

Still havent made it to the track yet but when I get on it on the road, I almost always chirp 2nd. Sometimes I can ease on the gas a touch and it wont chirp, but if I keep my foot planted or powershift, the backend breaks loose It will also do it in 3rd to if I powershift. Tires chirp a bit, no serious loss, but enough for me to know its doing it. Its just for a second, but its enough for someone to gain ground or loose time on the track. I just need to experiment some more to find out what will yeild the least spin, but allow me to keep the gas slammed.
