Short belt pic.. -86 GT

..Just want to show you my short belt version.
Used a guideroller from the aircond. system drive-tensioner from a -88 2.3 LX, and installed this instead of the normal -86GT tensioner roller.Then I drilled a hole close to the end of the tensioner assy,and fixed a plate with drilled holes to the unit. Then I used a adjustable wire tensioner to stretch the belt. Fixed the other end to the powersteering bracket, and this works fine!
Before I race, I suched up a little of the Power steering oil with a small emty bottle.(in case of spillings from the system without a running pump.) And Its fast to install the long serpentine belt again... Just leave the plate attached to the tensioner,the ribbed roller works as a long
belt tensioner roller, and unscrew the middel section of the wire stretcher....

pretty nice! im running the same thing but with P/S moved up to the a/c position and the smog bypassed

Thanks, ..and the "ArmStrong" steering was heavy for normal driving..
Do you use the same oil level in the pumphousing when you
drive with the short belt ?
