Short Throw Shifter

So my girlfriend has a 98 v6 mustang with a Steeda Tri-Ax, and it has been installed for almost a year now, and she is starting to have some problems, but we are not sure what the deal is. the problem is this...under hard acceleration the car will not go into gear unless the shifter is jammed into gear, like really hard, and i guess its not just a 1st to 2nd shift thats hard but 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. but when accelating normally the car shifts fine.

another thing thats weird is that when the car is still and it is put into gear there is a cluncking sonund that comes from the rear end...is this normal, cause i have heard that its not abnormal.

thanks for your help guys(and girls)

Ive heard of a similar case and what happened was the ball at the end of the shifter fell out of the socket. itll be a pain in the arse, but take out the shifter again and check.

and as for the clunking in the rear, I had that happen to me when i still had my car. It turned out that one of the teeth in the differentials had broken. thank god, it was covered under warranty. If thats the case for her, guess its time to step up to some 4:10s.

well I got back on this v6 forum to see if anyone had responded to my springs and I saw this post, we also had this problem with the pro 5.0 shifter, you would never believe the problem.

You know the rubber boot part that blocks the water from coming up to the shifter? you need to cut that part and tuck it under the adjusting bolts or it will get caught from time to time in the shifter. good luck
