If you want the long and short of it, both styles change the sound of your exhaust, but the long tubes give you more horsepower (16+) compared to the shorties (4hp max, I think). With long tubes the stock midpipe won't fit, so you'll either need to do some surgery or buy a midpipe to fit the headers and muffler pipe.

All of the long tubes that I've seen (ie. JBA) are labeled as "off road use only", but the shorties are not. Why is this?
