Should an offroad pipe produce any type of gaseous noises?

Hi guys,

Had my car at the exhaust shop for the 2nd time on what I think is an exahust leak. The guy found a small one but couldn't find anything where the headers meet the mid pipe.

He said without cats I should expect some difference in the noises (obviously) and he couldn't find a leak nor hear one. He also at this time nstalled my mil eliminators for me from Dallas Muistang...he seems a nice honest guy, he didn't charge me a dime because he missed a small leak last time I paid him.

So do you guys with off road pipes here any type of gaseous noises anywhere through your rpm range? Mostly in 1st and 2nd; the harder the acclerating the louder it gets. Also if you have the car in a higher gear, one too high for how fast you're going, the sound gets louder. Sounds like a "tsh tsh tsh tsh".

I have never had an offroad pipe so I don't really know what to expect.

Thanks Guys

Yes you will hear some extra noise with a off road pipe. It should be minimal I could hear the same thing you described except I did have a leak it was were the mid pipe bolted to the manifolds. Since I've had the leaks fixed I can barely hear anything at all but it is still there.

Best way to check for leaks is to look for black soot on the pipes near anything that would leak. If this does not work another good way to find a leak is to get the car on a lift with the engine running grab a good handful of rags and hold them over your tailpipes. As someone is doing this go over the exhuast pipes till you hear a whistling noise...if there is no noise you'll notice the car is trying to die out or will die out. This is how I finally confirmed that my exhaust no longer had any more leaks.

Thanks man, it sounds like I still have a pretty big leak. I just don't understand why these shops can't find it.

damn it this is aggrivating, I guess I will try another muffler place. (Insert anger here) Anyone know how to make the little icons in the post of smiley faces, etc?
