with my 88, i would always powerbrake, but it had drum brakes in the rear, with my 2002 i feel like mabey the fact that it has rear disks and antilock that its not a good idea. i guess i should just get line lock.

i had a line lock on my old 5.0 and liked it alot...in my 01 GT i find that i have to EASE on the brake while powerbraking to prevent my rear brakes from grabbing too much during the burnout...get a line lock, your rotors will thank you
I USED TO POWER BRAKE MY 01. I USED TO REV IT UP AND DROP THE CLUTCH AND EASE MY FOOT TO THE BREAK. I INSTALLED THE SLP LINE LOCK KIT AND ALOT EASIER TO HEAT THEM UP NOW. THE KIT COMES WITH EVERYTING. I PAID $139 FOR IT. THE DIRECTIONS ARE EASY TO FOLLOW.

Or you could call it "trashing the rear brakes as quickly as possible". Imagine smoking the rear tires while holding the brakes down (hopefully just enough) to keep the car from moving. A solution (for drag racing, I hope...I don't think it was ever meant to be a toy for doing street burnouts) is line-loc, which locks just the front brakes with the press of a button.
doing frame stands will wear on drum or disc brakes...... will that stop you from doing it??? not me!!
I just dump the clutch in second gear now at 3500 and don't need to stay in place to get smoke. hold the brake for a quick second and smoke em forward.
