Just looking for some opinions here.....

My friends father who owns a subaru dealership got a white 1999 Cobra Coupe in on a trade in and when i showd interest he told me he would hook it up for what he paid for it or so he says, $10k ... its bone stock and has 48k on it and is in excellent condition... if i were to buy it i would have to sell my 1997 ... what do you guys think about the price etc.....

If it really is in excellent condition, and you can live with white, then go for it.

Yes, but their was a huge recall on them and unless the previous owner was a complete moron, he took it in and they made the "fix" on it, and the power was returned to a normal 275RWHP stock. You can probably check in the vehicle history of it and it should say. I think that's a heck of a good price if everything pans out with it being a solid car, and not beat to death or in poor looking condition. 4V is better than 2V.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me...but keep in mind that you probably won't get as much for the '97 as you want/think you should...especially if you try to sell it quick to make the move on the kewbra

I didn't like white so much at first but it grows on yea. Assuming it has the "fix" you should be alright...4vs respond pretty nicely to mods with 4.10-4.30 gears, shifter, exhaust and CAI, maybe a tune...that Cobra should move pretty fn well.

I read about the lack of power and Ford claimed it put out 320 but they only put out 305 because somehow someone switched the intake manifolds or some **** but yea it should have been recalled and fixed....
i kinda like the white myself anyway once you get some dark tints on it....
and i feel like if i pass this up im going to regret it since he has it on his lot for $14,500 but then again i feel like i might regret selling my first mustang and a convertable no less... but then again its for 4v cobra!!

they are a lot more special than your gt. 32v aluminum block motor that is capable of 320+ rwhp with bolt ons. you need to swap heads and cams to come close

There is nothing wrong with '99 Cobras. I absolutely love mine. They are just as strong as the 2001 Cobra, period! As previously mentioned, if they've had the fix, they'll dyno at 275 plus.

I say buy it, bro. You'll notice a big difference.

I would scoop that up because thats a great deal, as long as the car isnt beat up. Even without the fix it is still a sh**load faster than a 2v. & honestly, I love the 99-01 Cobras except for the IRS. I really like the front fascia & if I had one I would swap the rear bumper & spoiler for 03 Cobra peices & get a solid axle.

I was gonna say more mods, but everyone knows what mods to do. I would do 4;10's instead of 4:30's though because i do lot of highway driving @ 75-85 mph.

If I remember right, there are some sweet seats in that year. I say give it an extended test drive and see how much you like it or if you miss the vert. Tough call either way.
