Should i ditch the gear drive? and a cam question

well since im going to button up the car soon i'm gonna start more on the engine im building so far i have:
Dart IE block
Probe Dominator 347 Stroker kit
Mechanical Gear drive

from what ive been being told is i should ditch the gear drive and go with a chain setup, but ive heard arguments about whats good for road racing and whats good for drags racing so since my car is gonna be a carver which should i go with, i know i can spend north of 300 on a chain setup but i know i dont need to, what would be a good brand to go with probably gonna wing the engine around 6500-7000

Also im set on running a mechanical roller setup, which cam, regardless of brand would yield me the most power with the Kenne Bell thats going on with the 9.21:1 compression ratio and 72cc AFR heads

I don't have much of an opinion on the gear drive or chain, all i know is that i don't like how the gear drive sounds.

For the cam, consult someone with cam spec'cing experience. Ya, you pay a few bucks more, but so what, sounds like you got over 10 grand worth of stuff anyway.

What i'd be most concerned about is the KB on a 347 road race car, without an intercooler. Especially on an engine that should flow really well to begin with. I'd think you are going to have to spin the hell out it to get the boost, and with that will come alot of heat, especially at 7000rpm.

The sound of the gear drive annoys me. It's cool for 5 mins, but i'd be annoyed driving it around.

However, it does allow more direct setting of timing and such since there is no lash. Unsure if it's worth it in that regards.

I'd stick with a normal Cloyes timing chain set

dont worry the car will have an intercooler, there is another member on here who has done it already and i will be stealing his idea so i can do the same, i just wont have a stock block

first off i dont buy **** from autozone, second of all i said i COULD and thirdly Ford Racing M-6268-F302 - Ford Racing HY-VO® Timing Chain and Gear Sets – SummitRacing.com

I think the brand sold at AZ is made by Cloyes anyway.

I'd get the chain you listed above.

Yes, a gear drive sounds just like a KB, but unless i had something to back it up, it would get old fast. You never get sick of a cobra whine because the car pulls hard when you hear it.

Then again, your combo might do the same :)

if it doesnt im gonna be pissed, so then i might as well stick with the gear drive then right, i want butt loads of power but i also want maximum reliability
