Should I Trade Or Walk Away!

Guy claims the car will run 10s on the motor! But he was running the car on Methanol & that he put it back on Pump Gas & that it is going to need a smaller Carb to run on Pump Gas! But with 13 1/2 to 1 Compression! I think if I run any Pump gas through it! It is going to have to be at least 110+ Gas! He said it should run on 93, But I can't see how with the way the motor is built! He said the car is loading up on fuel & before I can really hammer on it & drive it, I will need to take the Holly 950 off & step down to a 750 maybe a 650! Does this sound right or am I getting jackied around here!

I am trading the Bucket! My Primered coupe & $2000 cash for his car! But I don't want to trade for another Project! If all it really needs is a smaller carb I would really consider doing this! I have the Bucket loaded on the trailer & I am suppose to leave for Austin tonight to go pick his car up!

But the way I look at it & the way Mandy looks at it! Is I am Trading a reliable Mid 12 Sec car & 11sec car on the juice for a car that does nto run & is going to need money! But I keep on telling her that this car has a load of stuff done to it! Here are the mods Below!

So should I trade or pass & wait for something diffrent! I want a 10 sec car, I can't afford $10,000 for one! So I figure my car & cash is the best I can do & I know everyone is broke with the way gas is! Thats why all these car that are $9000 & up stay on the board so long! This car is willing to trade me a $10,000 car for a $4000 car & $2000 cash! Not a bad trade! But if I can't go put normal 93 ocatne in it & drive it! Then it sucks I think! I can't afford to put Race fuel in it!

So should I trade or pass!

I think you already know that this is just going to become another project. I would stick with what you have and build it up rather than going to something that you really don't know for sure how well its been built and how well it will run. If it has that high of compression you will need race fuel or you might be able to retard the timing a little and get away with 93 octane but I'm not sure.

Swapping to a smaller carb will only help with the throttle response. Personally a 950HP is to large for the 347, a nice 750 would be fine. It is still a stock block car so that is something you also have to consider, we just recently broke our 2nd stock block with under 450RWHP.

It will NEVER run on 93 octane, it may not even start on 93. That car needs 110 minium, CAM 2 is about $5.50 here. You may get away with a mix but I would not do it, you lean it out and you'll have issues.

It does have a lot of good parts, is it a solid roller cam? The Hell fire rings are great for a high compression high heat motor, sounds like it was being set up for some N2O. The car on a 200-250 shot would have no issue going low 9's maybe faster depending on the chassis...

My guess is he is getting rid of it because he wanted a healthy street car, and built a RACE car that he thought would be streetable....common mistake.

Not sure on your abilities but you could get the car, swap pistons and still have a very nice car cheaper then building a car of that caliper Pistons $400, $150-$200 in balancing, plus rings, bearings and gaskets.

WE have a Holly 750Hp Seri's Carb at the house! The cam has a 690 lift! I think he built the car to Drag it! But he already has a 69 with a Big Block, I just think I am going to pass!

I say get it and get a nice cheap toyota car or something reliable and fuel efficient, that stang looks gorgeous, so does the motor. Even say you dont like it for whatever im sure you could sell it for 8-9 k right? idk I say get it im sure you would regret it down the road, but its ur choice.
