Should there be a chip in the computer on my 91 mustang??

I opened up my computer to inspect it for burns and found at the rear of the computer there is an opening covered by a "do not remove void Ford Warranty" sticker. Behind this are a bunch of slide on pins where the chip is supposed to slide on but I have no chip? Should there be a chip there of some sort?? I have nothing there.. Thanks

Thank You It did have a lot of grease on the port. I am chasing this no start problem that is driving me crazy and was wondering about the computer. Thanks again!!
