Recently got this car and have noticed that there is a shudder or vibration when accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear, but only until ~ 2000 rpm, then its smooth as day. It does this around turns or going straight, and there is no noise or chatter when it happens. Also, it does not vibrate at all on the highway at any speed, its very smooth on the highway. Really only when letting out the clutch and accelerating until 2k. Anyway, does anyone have an idea of what this might be? The car does have gears in it (previous owner), and the shifter it not vibrating or anything.

I have the problem with my 00 GT. It seems to be its worst from 1000 RPM to 1500 RPM. Have you found a fix for it yet? I replaced my motor mounts although my shifter never did shack either. My next guess is the clutch.

Do you know if the clutch had been replaced before you got it?

That sort of vibration might be caused by a clutch assembly that's out of balance. If the dowels were not installed after the flywheel was resurfaced the clutch may have been installed with excessive runout.
