Side Exhaust

Ok, I have looked on ebay, and other places that sell exhaust mufflers and etc. Any side pipes that I have found are small dinky pipes that look as if they fit a four banger. I am trying to find a perfect side exhaust that is all chrome with a 4 inch mesh that surrounds the pipe and the mesh has thin rectangle line cut outs that run horizonta. Iv seen these on older Ford coupes and they look kick ass.

yea, im my opinion, i wouldnt do it...they dont look right, and they were on old corvettes....ford and chevy dont mix....

Have you tried using a time machine to journey back to the disco era???? While your there pick up some air shocks and shackles so you can mount up some daytona 60 series rubber under the rear. Add some ladder bars for traction, bolt up the sun tach on the column, and throw the ABBA 8 track in. Now your ready to roll

Seriously side pipes are a huge pita. Unless you enjoy burning your legs or drive an old vette or ac cobra I see no reason to use side pipes.

Yeah they ^ dont look right at all. You should get pipes that come out uderneath the doors on each side, my dad had them in a 70 mustang and they were loud and looked good

Yuk!! Spintech makes a very nice side exhaust kit. It is all hidden it just has a nice flat oval tip exit before the rear tire, the sound is amazing too. I wouldn't promote spintechs though because their popularity is growing and I want to be unique. Don't want the rednecks slapping them on their trucks like the blowmasters and glasspacks.

Unless you make it yourself, it won't be unique. Do what you like, what you want and that is all that matters. If a billion people use the same exact setup but it is what you want and makes it sound the way you want, who cares. less then my two cents

Sell that Mustang and get a '70s custom van. Put some gold shag in the back, the walls, the ceiling, a disco ball, and a waterbed. THEN you can get those pipes.

There is a guy around here that has them on a Duster. It reminds me of those two Joe Dirt guys in the Dodge commercials.

I've never been a big fan of 18 wheeler exhuasts on cars, but as it has been said; it's YOU that needs to be happy. I have been looking at the Dr Gas kit from Mustang Depot myself. Check it out @......

Man, I saw a late model Camaro with those 4 into 1 side pipe like on the Patriot page, I laughed my azz off. It was very fugly.

I had a muffler guy make up an exhaust set-up like that using Dyno-max mufflers and 2 1/2" pipe for my '65. I'm pretty sure most muffler shops could bend up that pipe for probably a lot less than the spintech kit

I agree the Spintech is kinda pricey, I am just putting out another choice for side exhuast. I think the only thing that would be a PITA to find would be the mufflers. 69Rcode, if you have this setup, what is the sound comp to? I would like my 302 to sound like a new SVT cobra (stout but doesn't drown out the radio).

Mine is not the side exit kit, just the prostreet mufflers and Dr. Gas X-pipe with hooker comps. The car sounds amazing, it gives it a very stout, poppy yet deep idle almost like it was cammed back when it was stock. It really shines when you spin it up, and actually sounds similar to the newer cobras, just a deeper exhaust note from the engines large displacement. I have never heard a car that sounds as good, and so I am happy with my combo that is why I chose it. I actually took a vid for the guys at stangnet but my dad took the video out and I have never seen it again. I will need to dig and search to see if I can find it.

You might look to Spintech for oval tips, as well as Roush - they have an angled rectangular design used on latemodel Mustangs.

The front in/out mufflers are made by most major companies. I think the late model Corvette uses this type, as well as most of the late-model Mustang side-exit setups. I used Dynomax (#17676 $49 at Summit) - Borla, Spintech, & Bassani all make the same configuration. Blowmaster probably does as well - you just need to look.
