side scoop inserts

so i ask a lot of questions about installs cuz im new at this, but im tryin to learn. another quick one, when putting on the ss inserts into the side scoops do u take the honeycomb thing out and then put it on or put it on top of it? big day saturday im installing springs, inserts, and headlight and taillight blackouts. cant wait to see how it looks, i just wanna know how to do everything so i can get it done in one day. thanks!

the inserts probably go in over top of the existing ones... but i will say you will have to take the existing black ones out in order to anchor the new pieces in. use a long flat tool, or screw driver to pop the pins holding the scoop on, be very careful of the paint and be patient, just feel it out for the releases on the pins.

why would i need to take the old ones out to anchor them in. they just use 3m adhesive and i think it says to just put that onto the black ones and then put the new ones on.
