Well,
Just got into a nice 90 Mustang LX 5.0...frickin love the car. Has some miles on her, 146k, but runs really strong. Would like to do some simple bolt-ons to wake the car up a bit, bein a DD I dont wanna go overboard nor sacrifice the reliability and driveability of the car.

That bein said, heres what i got so far:
Offroad H
Flows
K&N drop in, no silencer
94-95 MAF
MGW shifter
PA performance 3G 130amp alt

What do yall think I should do from here? I wanna check out some UD pulleys, but not sure who to get em from, and whether I should get steel or go with aluminum or why? Anyone got any ideas/tips?

Thanks!
Matt

hey,
i know yours is a 95, but your mods are close to what I have/wanna do, hows it run? You pretty happy with it? Im tryin to get as close as I can to keep up with a co-workers fairly stock 00 GT lol

I say forget the pulleys, gains are marginal and not worth sacrificing charging and cooling. How do I know this? I'm changing a head gasket right now, and I'm sure the U/D pulleys had something to with the detonation that caused it to blow out.

The worst part of the HO engine is the intake manifold, if you've ever seen one off the car you'd know of what I speak. Porting it is a waste of time and $$, replace it with a Cobra or Typhoon, and put on some L/T headers and an off road pipe at the same time. Then do the heads; then the cam. You will be pleased. As for drivability, I get 30+mpg on the highway, which is better than when it was stock.

Properly ported, the stock intake will support up to ~280RWHP/330RWTQ. 260RWHP is not hard with off the shelf cams. My website documents results of porting a stock intake. It is worth porting and the results are excellent especially when you consider it costs much less than a used Cobra/Explorer. For stock E7, Ported E7, GT40 or GT40P heads it's a great match.
The proof is on my website - see my sig for a link. There is plenty of info there on how to do it yourself too............

Thanks for the info guys!!! Im lookin forward to puttin a little side money into this car when my 66 isnt usin it all lol...its been fun already, cant wait to put some real power down

UD pulley are worth the money. Get sub frame connectors. Keep that car from getting all twisted up. If you haven't done a gear swap thats where my next chunk of money would go. 3.73's for a t-5 car and 4.10's for a auto.

If you can accept the potential charging issues just get some cheaper steel UD pulleys. When i ordered my March pullies from Summit I asked them to exchange the UD alternator pulley for an overdrive version for same price...no problem.I didn't spend more than $75 on pullies;the hp gains aren't worth spending more for aluminum versions.

Whats the deal with the crank pulley? Its one pulley instead of the alt and wp. Who sells it and is it a good gain?
I have seen just a crank pulley for sale, cant remember where.
