My father-in-law is a franchise dealer for Snap-on. I get to see what the quailty is of the boxes after use. The snap-on ones ARE worth the extra cost with powdercoat, ball bearings, HD casters, better locks/locking system. The used snap-on ones are always in better shape. Mac has a nice box aswell but you can tell the diff. in the two after some use. The craftsman (he calls them crapsman ) ones are lucky to make it home without falling apart.

I get to play with alot of cool stuff...and use the nice stuff if I need too. I have asked to buy some stuff and he just says "just barrow mine".

He is the first to say craftsman is worth it to a home mech. as far as hand tools go for the most part but if your doing it for a living that is when the quality stands out.

I hope to get some stuff from him down the road prob. buy a used box off him at some point and replace my sockets as some are getting sorry. Got a 18v cordless impact a few years ago for my birthday or xmas...and that sucker is wicked.

Yeah some of my tools are Mac also and they just aren't the same quality overall. I like the slim heads on the Matco rachets though, I just don't like the plastic handles on them. The two orange handled ratchets in one of those pics are Matco, The Snap-on ones I like too, and the craftsman one I use to loan out if needed. I love those cordless impacts, I use a Chicago Pneumatic brand and it works pretty well, it's enough to break loose rusted axle nuts. That snap on 3/8 impact you see in one of the 1st pics weighs like nothing and is 300 ft lbs...love it over our 1/2" one http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=yes&tool=power&item_ID=75610&group_ID=19753&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog I wasn't as into the Mac boxes either, although I really liked the matco ones too. My craftsman one served me well, although the grip latch system it had didn't always like to work. I got a pretty sweet trade in on it.

snap on had me for a long time. Finally paid that bill off. Way to easy to buy stuff and its so damn nice its hard to resist. The ratchets are awsome and I love the torque wrenches. Those boxes are real nice but they went to far with the tool box alarm and key fob they offer.

not as bad as the mac boxes that have a built in radio....

Yes, 30 gallon, type-o. Actually I'm in the biz and ASE Certified. Worked for a Chevy dealership for a few years. I work for a very large Auto Parts Manufacturing Company. Now I sell the parts that people install.

Adam, I don't even own a cat. I'm not big into animals that make a mess so I only have a 55 gallon fish tank. My 2 year old son sticks his head out of there when I'm messing around in the garage.

One time messing around with a modis unit we were talking about the 3/8 300ft lb impact...its a REAL nut buster, one of if not the best in its class for power. God I wish I had the space in the garage for a bigger tool setup....time...all it is, is time. Pics from you guys keep the desire burning

I guess I will have to take pics of my crappy boxes. Unfortunately I work at a big dealership (50 techs) and the snap-on, cornwell, MAC and ATD trucks come by every week. It's really hard not to buy from them.

Fortunately, I am a mizer of sorts, so I bought most of my tools from harbor frieght and sears. My torque wrench is a cornwell and well as a few other precise instruments but that's it. I just can't justify paying 2x to 3x the price for the same-function tool.

I think IR had/still has a 1000 ft lb "street power" or something or other air gun. A tech I worked with a while back grabbed one and it was amazing. It was like a freight train was ripping off lugs. It was roughly the same price as the regular guns too, maybe a little more.
