Skipping at around 3k rpm????

I have just got it back running again, and when I get around 3k rpms it sounds like it is skipping? I cant figure out what it is. I was wondering if its the plugs I have in it. I am currently running oem motorcrafts.
FYI it is a 306 with stage 3 trick flow cam
1.6 rr, roush/world products heads
pro comp ewp
pro comp distributor, coil, ignition
victor jr intake and edelbrock carb

You don't literally mean that you run the OEM (as in the same plug number) spark plug, do you? Your aftermarket heads probably require a different plug.

If I think I have a spark plug wire issue, I just separate them really well, sleeve the wires with vacuum hose, etc and then drive it to see if the issue is better. You can also carefully check for spark leak with a spray bottle of water at night. When the water hits a leaky wire, you'll see what looks like pixie dust. Be very careful of hot, moving engine parts.
