Slick size question

I'm currently running 26x9 MT Street ET radials(15 inch wheels) on my 90' GT and cannot hook. I am about ready to give up on them.

I've done the upper and lower trailing arms as well, have gone with drag shocks and struts. I've tried several tire pressure settings (10-20psi), and launch rpms to no avail.
I'm running a 5-spd with 4.10 gears.

I'm wondering if anyone has any other suggestions....

If not, I would like to know how big a all out drag slick I can go with without cutting or tubbing? I prefer to go with 26" but willing to go 28" max. With the 26, I go through the traps at about 5000rpm in 4th...That's the way I like it.
Let me know what kind of rim offset(back spacing) I need.

I have ET Drag Slicks. They are a 26x10.5 i believe. They are 15 inch aswell. They are awesome at the track. I have got a best of 1.6 sixty foot. The issue with the street slicks as I see it is that the 9 inch even the 10.5's do not have the same contact patch as the 10.5 inch slicks. You could go with a wider drag radial.
