SLP catback

I recently ordered an SLP loudmouth catback and got it in the mail via UPS yesterday. When I opened the package I checked all the pipes then realized that I didnt recieve any clamps in the package nor the 2 ball flanges. Could I just have the catback welded together without the use of the clamps? Wouldnt it be safer to have the catback welded together instead of relying on clamps and are their any advantages in using the clamps over welds?

Since you paid for clamps you should get them. Welding the joints is not a bad idea though, except for at the flange connections where the catback bolts to the midpipe. You may want to change your midpipe at some point and it will be easier to do so if it's not welded to the catback.

dude if i were you i would weld that puppy, because i have the slp catback and it has many tiny pinhole leaks and they drive me nuts, i have tried everything and the obly way you definitly wont have a leak is if it is welded good.

I still need those 2 ball flanges for the midpipe though, I would hate to wait to have them ship those flanges. As for the weld, would you just recommend welding the system together?

yes but not at the mid pipe clamps actually you can prolly pick up the flanges and hardware at the local muffler shop.

I would still wait for the flanges (and clamps even if you decide not to use them).

yea i've definitly decided to clamp the system together so ill be waiting for those to ship to my house. I figure if i ever have to replace one of the resonators it would be alot easier if the system was clamped.

the leaks are around where the band clamps hold i have tried 2 different type of clamps the galvanized ones they came with and the latest is stainless, the resonator inlet is much bigger than the flowtubes so when you clamp them they dont seal completely so i would reccomend welding if not too much trouble, but this is probably only an issue with the modular system, but i dont know if they still have the old system available. i would have preferred that one

Some people have welded theirs anyway and it definately wouldn't hurt. I figured since RHstang02 paid for clamps LMP should send him some and give him the option of trying them if he wants, and he should certainly have the flanges.

I'd wait for it, if you weld it and you dont like it then its going to be a lot easier to remove, anyways I know some people would get tired of a loud exhaust like the SLP, not me doh.

theres been many changes to slp like in their catback. the loud mouth 1 i have cant have the packs removed with out cutting it. unlike the new ones which can be clamped and unclamped. (lucky the bastards who bought it after i did)
