ordered a SLP stainless cat back system for my buddys 04 cobra. this kit has the Loud Mouth I resonators. this seems to be a nice kit but i picked up the resonators, held them up to the light and looked straight thru them! im a little concerned

ive listened to a ton of slp clips on 03/04 cobras (with the lm1 and lm2s) and i think they sound awesome. very loud very raspy. i guess my question is, will those resonators sound good? do they even serve a purpose? also, kit has all clamps etc....is this meant to be a bolt on exhaust or should he still get it welded up?

any guys with more clips or experience on them chime in please

thanks guys

Cat-backs and the way they sound are so subjective. Personally I think SLP's sound like ass... It's all in the ear of the beholder I guess.

I liked my SLP LM1. The clamps worked fine, I didn't have any leaks.

I like the IIs, not the Is. Not sure how much of a differnce they will sound on a cobra though. You don't need to weld. The clambs they give you a real good and should not leak.

i already knew when i posted this there would be alot of "sounds like crap" statements. and thats ok - to each his own. but its ordered and its here so thats what hes putting on.

i do like the fact that the clamps work well with no leaks. he was hoping he wouldnt have to weld. i do like the versitility of this exhaust because u can change out the resonators, so you get a little play.

thanks for the help/input guys

lol I was kidding SLP sounds good on DOHC with their inherent burbly sound...but on a 2v it's a lil too tinny imo.

I have full SLP on my car and it is deep and loud! I went with the LM2s though. The LM1s to me are to loud and crackle a lot. If you go under you tube i have a few vids of my car with revs and taking off.

look under "02 mustang GT SLP full exhaust" or "mustang SLP exhaust" one of them should pull it up for you. The good thing is that if you don't like the LM1s than you can swap them out for the LM2s (due to the clamps) so that is one bonus of SLP.

Helty ran an off road X with the LM1s and the sounded horrible so if you are going to go O/R X than go with either a powerflo or LM2 type muffler/resonator. JMO

I think you'll be happy for now.

ive always tried to word how a dohc motor sounds and thats a pretty good description (like when idling down kind of a ''wa wa wa '' sound) but i agree, the 2v motors definetly have a different sound with the same exhaust...i dont like it or dislike it, just different

as of right now he will have the stock cats and h pipe with the Loudmouth 1 catback. im thinking that setup will keep it moderatly quiet ( not really, but not insanely loud )

i do like the fact that you get the versitility of swapping the resonators. by the way, where can he pick up 2 LM2 resonators and how much are a pair if he wanted to swap out?

i did hear a 03 cobra with a o/r X and SLP LM and it sounded AWESOME. im thinking it was the LM1's too but not totally sure on that.

maybe i can get a sound/vid clip this weekend ...

I buy all of my SLP parts from www.lmperformance.com

They have the best prices that i have seen for SLP. Just look under your year car and click on exhaust. I think they are like around a 100 but i'm not sure. The powerflow mufflers are suppose to be good too but i have yet to hear a clip from them.
