After driving it any distance, the smell of coolant is prety strong. Im not losing any, as the radiator checked full, and so did the res. But its fairly strong, without poping the hood. Just getting within a few feet of the front end, and you can definately smell it. Any clue why this is? I dont smell it inside the car, nore are there any wet spots on the rug, so the heater core should be ok, i assume.

Thanks for any input!

i wouldnt rule out your heater core leaking, my heater core was leaking from the little hole in the firewall and dripping on my x pipe and i had the same condition as you where i could smell coolant outside of the car. i just bypassed myne because i dont really need the heat

when coolant hits hot metal, it is odoriferous. also check under the water pump (weep hole), around the thermostat housing, the EGR lines (2), heater lines, sending units (2), and hoses and clamps.

well, i think i have narrowed it down for you. seriously, i would check it all. only takes a few minutes.
good luck.
