during the engine swap we deleted the egr and smog systems. the pump is still on the engine, though, not connected to anything but the belt. here's what i was thinking:

1. delete it all together and either get a delete pulley or shorter belt, or

2. there's air being pumped--connect it to the air intake tube before the maf/filter and have it be like a free, mini supercharger

:D i know, a little odd, but theoretically, it seems like a good idea. opinions? anyone every done this before?

i deleted mine and used a delete pulley to retain the same belt length and to eliminate having any slippage issues that may occur with a shorter belt...i don't think the air pump will pump enough air to make any difference connected to the intake tube...

I got the UPR delete and it's a nice piece, but with my Vortech it DID change my belt length. I don't know if it has happened to anyone else, but I was a little irked about it. I called them and told them about it, not really expecting anything except to inform them and hope they look into it, but they shouldn't advertise works with supercharged applications AND maintains factory belt length :nonono:

As far as the mini supercharger, hah, you would probably be better off ditching the few pounds the sucker weighs and cleaning up the accessory bracket a bit.

Paul, remember that you already some nice engine vacuum in the intake tract. The minor positive displacement of air from the pump would be about as effective as having your buddy blow in your ear to try and make you fart harder. :D

The short belt is very hit or miss. Some folks have issues with the tensioner (having to grind the stop down a bit IIRC. I'd get an eliminator if this is going to be permanent.

If you are workin on stuff like this, it sounds like you got most of the bugs worked out of the new combo. Nicely done!

not worth the hassle of the plumbing to get that smog pump into the intake. don't even both. i personally would have prefered to delete it totally and get a smaller belt but b/c of the vortech i couldn't and had to go with a delete pulley. doesn't look bad but still would rather not have it at all

lol, nice analogy, Grady

fortunately, most of the larger bugs have been worked out and now i can start thinking about ridiculous things like this, hehehe.

guess i'll get the delete pulley and save whatever weight i can.

thanks, gentlemen, for the input.
