Smog Pump Question!!!

Hey guys,

I got a question about my smog pump. I recently upgraded my exhaust and now my smog pump is useless, actually it always was. Is there any way to delete it? If I have to buy a smaller belt what size would it have to be?

A smog delete kit would work. Or get creative with belt routing (search in here for what works).

Yup, just remove it and use a smaller belt. IMO all these delete kits are useless. If you want to remove something, just remove it, get a smaller belt and re-route it.

When I built my engine I didn't bother putting the smog pump back on, so once everything else was on I used a string, held the tensioner about 3/4 of the way "tight", ran the string and measured it. A friend of mine has some underdrive and overdrive pulleys, but he has the same amount of pulleys as I do. We have two different belt routes, but it accomplishes the same thing.

Ford has a smog delete kit.

I've only had trial and error work for finding the right size belt.
