smog ????????

Is it ok to remove all the remove all the smog stuff on an 88, my question is will it hurt the computer if so what can you do?

I did it, I would hook up the egr though, I did, search for jricher , he had a post about egr deleting, it can cause problems, but the pump won't.

You woun't gain any real HP by removing the smog equipment. The smog pump vents and effectively freewheels at full throttle. Cat converters will eventually fail without a working smog pump. The EGR shuts off at full throttle. Removing the smog equipment only saves less than 15 pounds and the computer keeps spitting codes unless you have a custom chip burned. All in all, not worth the problems it causes.

So its not worth it ? I was asking cause I am pretty sure got a bad catalytic converter. Guess Ill just replace it then, thanks.
