Took my mustang to the 1/8th mile strip last friday to blow the cobwebs out of her and run in out a bit. Great times were had, car ran pretty well, street tires were screaming fo mercy. I knew the BFG KDW's didn't have a chance for good 60 ft's, but it was fun. My third and final run came towards the end of the night and I was staged next to a brand new 2010 Nissan GT-R. All wheel drive, 0-60 in a "claimed" 3.2ish. That car smoked me! I don't know what he ran, but after the race we tracked the car down in the pits to check it out. It is a gorgeous car. Dont get me wrong, I am purely a muscle car fan, but those car flat-out rip! A 17 year old kid was driving it as well....must be nice!? Checked some out on Ebay this morning. Sticker price for the premium optioned car is 70k, but it looks like you will be spending 80+ to finally own one today. Good looking car, but my mustang still sounds a whole lot better!

you said it...rice can produce one *acceptable* car for every dozen muscle cars there are here. and yes sir your mustang does sound better bar none

I forgot the best part, so everyone was checking out this GT-R at the track when an 87 Grand National staged next to the GT-R towards the end of the night. The GN blew him away! Hows that for American V-6 performance!

I think for the money, I'll take a car that allows me to use launch control without voiding the warranty and consuming a $30,000 transmission.

Anybody who spends 70-80 grand for less than 500 hp at the crank is out of their mind. If I'm gonna get a "supercar", I'm going to do it right and buy a Vette or a GT500.

Not my type of car either, but the GT-R can beat some serious cars 0-60. To name a few...Bugatti EB110 SS & GT, Lamborghini Murcielago & Gallardo, Shelby GT500, 2010 Corvette, Z06, & ZR1, 911 GT2. Makes me happy to say the 2005 Saleen S7 is faster @ 3.1 sec 0-60! For some reason the 2005 S7 is rated faster than the 2006 S7 @ 3.3? Dont know why.

That's the dumbest comment I've ever heard. Some of you guys are so stuck up. No offense to the op but if the stock gtr smoked you, your car probably has some boltons with a flowmaster exhaust, in which case I would say the GTR sounds better imo. What does that even mean rice can produce one acceptable car, who makes a rice? Because I think the new camaro, challenger, charger, are a joke compared to the GTR. The nissan gtr is MORE than an acceptable car, and I believe it is well worth the 70-80k. If i had the money I would definitely buy one over a gt500. I am paraphrasing but even the host of supercars exposed said it was a car even he would love to own.

I agree Mob... How is this car "rice"? It is a badass car. I know about the warranty issue... it's a shame. But the truth is the car moves. It might not look good to you, but the engineering behind it, the performance is accomplishes, and the fact that it runs what it does is enough to not consider it "rice".

What??? I'm assuming you mean twin turbo by TT.. If so, no they weren't. They were a single turbo.

As for the rest of your statement, it usually comes from younger people that everyone should appreciate cars like the honda hatchbacks. Gotta love being Politically Correct I guess. As far as it goes, nope. I don't appreciate the honda hatches. They will always remain a FWD chassis which is good for just about nothing except packaging. I like some imports(mitsu eclipse gsx, 3000gt vr4, supra, etc..), but a fail wheel drive will always be just that.

Whoops my bad.

I dont think people should appreciate those cars because it is politically correct. They are very light weight cars, that are just as easy to work on as mustangs, and can be made to go fast for cheap. Just because it cant lift the tires off the ground doesnt mean FWD cant make a good drag car. I've seen PLENTY of fast FWD drag cars, plus JDM style hondas look REAL clean.

Grand nationals were not TT stock.. they had a single turbo and mine ( 87 turbo T) made around 13 PSI stock.

I LOVED that car.. wish I never sold it but I was young and dumb then

One of the most fun cars I've ever driven was my best friends little '92 EG. No power anything, a stock D16Z6, and a tiny little turbo made for one heck of a 0-100mph car. I still want to get one of my own.

Grand Nationals had a single turbo 3.8L V6 from the factory. The "TT" comes from people mistaking a Regal T-Type for a "Twin Turbo," just because there are two T's in the name. A Regal T-Type is exactly the same thing as a Grand National, except it's a Buick Regal without the interior package, and released in different colors other than black. With the money GNs fetch nowadays, I'd rather have a T-Type, but I'm weird like that.

I had a buddy in college with a black T-Type. Damn that was a cool car. He had a home brewed boost controller on it and he could never keep it below 18 psi lol.

how much is your stang worth? I bet it isn't anywhere close to $80,000. For $80,000 it better smoke a bolt on stang. There is one that runs at Irwindale every once in a while. It does not impress me too much. Nice car but I would think for $80,000 it would have more hp than at least a gt500, which cost $30000 less. It's just my opinion.
