This confused me, for I remember seeing a black one in Saleen's '98 catalog with a wing similar to one found on the S281, and one multi-prismatic car with a rediculously tall race wing in magazines and at various events. But apparently this was only one car; Saleen changed the paint scheme and showed the car in its mystic form. Any 96-98 car seen must have had just a body kit, for I know Saleen sold them at one time; the street cars never hit production due to their inability to pass NTSA regulations. Mark was very knowledgable, so thanks to mark95-0051 for the lead. I did see the normal-bodied racer on their website. I wonder the whereabouts of this SR; if anyone has any more info, please keep me posted.
