Hi' I know this has probably already been asked a hundred times before but please bear with me. I rebuilt a 351 out of a 89 bronco and was going to slap it in my 95 gt. It was the flat tappet one and other than 0.30 over it is completely stock. I know it'll bolt up to my t-5 and the pulley brackets and upper intake manifold will fit under my 5" cowl. I've heard that the sn95 pcm would run the 351w just fine since their firing orders are the same and supposedly the extra fuel needed would be within the pcm's parameters of adjustment. Is this true and does the same go for the maf,map,o2, ect. I think the distributor from a 94 250 will fit since it appears to be identical to the 5.0's. Emissions sensors are unimportant since this is all going into my 84lx actually and not my 95gt. I'm borrowing the 95's harness and other need things to do this and will get it a new harness if it dosen't become a strip car. The 84 had a 3.8tbi so I couldn't use its already mangled harness. Sorry for the lengthy message but I like to explain things upfront so people can see the whole picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The factory computer is up the task, no problem.

If the 94 F250 distributor is from a 351W and it has the external TFI like the 94-95 Mustang, then that's the one you want. You can reuse all of your 5.0's sensors with the 351W, otherwise. If you're putting this into an 84 LX, bear in mind that the 94-95 models used the CCRM to control multiple systems including the AC, fuel pump, and electric fan, so you may want to get a hold of a wiring diagram, to see what, if anything needs to be rewired, in order to work.

Thanks for the info Matt, it's good to hear the pcm from my 95GT will work. I'm donating the entire harness and electrical parts from my red 95GT. I"ll swap over the bracket assemblies as well as the electric fan and the timing cover if necessary. Since it will be wired exactly like a 95 the only splicing I should have to do will be with the headlights and tail lights. I read somewhere that the 94 F250 distributor will work and I saw a picture of it at oriellys.com and the connector looked identical. Do you think I can put a mild cam like a b or an e cam since I might have to swap timing covers to make the pulleys line up. Thanks again

And there's no reason to feel sorry for the 95 since it's getting rebuilt too. Go a pro turbo kit and 88mm ball bearing turbo. I"ll have billet internals and a dart iron eagle 351 block. It"ll be carbed so I can use it's stock stuff in my 84lx.

Ah, sounds like a good project then, since the entire electrical system is making its way over. The only concern that I don't have an answer to about the distributor is the type of gear it comes with, since I'm not sure about what type of cam is in the F250's 351W, versus what type of cam you'll be running. I'd hate to have you pop the distributor in with an incompatible gear and end up sending metal flakes through the engine.

If you're able to source another harness (a Fox one would probably work), you might want to look into something like a Megasquirt, Accel DFI, or similar aftermarket system to keep the 95 EFI when going with the turbo setup, for possible ease of tuning. Not to discourage you in any way, but I'm definitely a proponent of utilizing an EFI system for its benefits over a carburetor, when fine tuning fuel and timing curves. I'm just thinking out loud here though, as I don't even know your plans for the car.

Yeah I kept the harness from the 89 Bronco when I bought it at the junk yard but its pcm was missing. But from what I understand since the 89 and 94 both have cast iron cam and distributor gears with a diameter of .527 I think there shouldn't be a problem. The 89's cam was hydraulic so Its cam gear is the same as the roller cam. Frp makes a flat tappet version of the b and e-351 cam and I think I might get one if I can stay with 19lb injectors. And my 84 was mainly going to be a daily driver while I can pretty much do anything to it now since its old enough to be exempt from emissions standards.

For cams I suggest going with Ed Curtis from Flow Tech Inductions. He made me a custom grind for my 351w. He will ask you for all the specs of your car to make it.

thanks I'll give em a ring. I'm looking for a mild cam that I won't have to put in a chip or have to use bigger injectors with.
