. Pop the hood and look for a loose vacuum line, spark plug wire, injector plug, etc.

Purchase a scanner. It's 20 dollars that no mustang owner can do without. Until then @jrichker Has a sticky that shows how to do it with a paperclip and count the flashes on the check engine light.

Obd1 scanners are cheap

Drink a couple beers and tackle the car after you've had a minute to take a breath. Without giving you false hope it really sounds like you are pulling in unmetered air from someplace.

If your block was cracked you wouldn't have made the 50 miles.

.. what i really hate is not knowing ... i have tried more then once to learn engines but my brain just cant do it .. it dont like learning some things from books yet i can build a computer in the dark with no problem .. lol i know pretty much how to change oil .. you look for that cap that says 710 LOL ......

i know spark plug wires so il check them in the morn before i take it back as for vacuum lines ... i have a hoover and a 1967 "red" kurbi

Just look for anything that isn't connected. Vacuum lines are just rubber hoses. If you can build a computer you can do basic engine work.

Spray it with purple power, rinse, repeat.
Water hose won't hurt, but I wouldn't blast it with a pressure nozzle.

anytime i take a part to the machine shop no matter what it is it comes back to me CLEAN!!! you would think the guy would at least toss the stuff in a solvent tank and brush them clean before the install....
