SN95 Mass air sensor in a fox?

Well i snagged a mass air sensor off a 94gt from ebay. I was orginally going to have the flange cut off but there is a slight lip or angled part right behind the flange. Im not sure if the CAI and clamp would still seal properly. Pics so you can see exactly what i mean:

mine is out of a 95 v8, works fine, until i get some bigger injectors.

Not trying to highjack the thread or anything, but if I spliced in or made an adapter plug, could I use an 03/04 mach 1 mass air meter? I know they also contain the IAC and my stock one under the intake is bad so I could just wire all of that up to work, rather than pull my upper intake off to change the IAC sensor.

I cant Image that a 03/04 Mach1 Meter would work as the Modular engine would have a completely different computer than a 5.0.

But ford doesn't calibrate the meters to the injectors. I've heard of people splicing the connectors and using OBDII era ford mass air meters, from a host of different vehicles.

As you noted, I can see the MAF/MAS portion working (with tuning for fuel considerations) but I doubt the IAC function would be correct even with a tune.

Before I switched over to a SD setup via megasquirt…I ran a pro-m univer maf sensor calibrated for a 96 4.6 mustang on my 5.0L. It worked flawlessly…I just modified my existing pigtail to fit inside of the 96 maf sensor.

I could probable just check the resistence of the built in IAC sensor and compare it to a EECIV one. If it doesn't work its no big deal, I'll just have to pull the intake and replace it.

i've wonderd could one port the stock meter if all you want is more flow?? pull out the electronics and port the flow area??

No.

when the airflow changes the output of the MAS must change as well.

By hogging out the MAF you would be flowing more air than the voltage output of the MAS would be indicating.

For low buck MAF alternatives the sn95 MAF is the best alternative.

I just bid on it.

Theres a link in another MAF topic that sells the adapters for around $45 or you can have a machine shop take off the flange.

How does a V6 computer work with regard to injector firing on a V8? I've seen a few folks over the years post about using the above-mentioned computer, but I never understood that aspect (it was the most glaring at first blush).....

Well, there's a link there that discusses the adapters and where to get them in some detail. To just say that there are adapters available doesn't help you one bit because it's unlikely you would find the correct adapter. You can either make an adapter like I did, cut the flange off of your meter or you can buy an adapter from the sole remaining source on the Internet.
