snap crackle pop

if im drivin and comin to a stop and then proceed to downshift my car without aligning the rpms my car will pop and crackle in mean soundin kinda way but if i tach it up to line up the rpms wit the speed of the car it will go down normally. any ideas? i dont think it wud be an exhaust leak becuz then it wud do it all the time rite?

.... i had that on my 94 a year or so back

it started happening when my catalytic converters were goin down south

Are you using your clutch when you downshift?

yea of course i cant not use the clutch. im not good at that

i wonder if this is has sumthin to do with my car doin the same thing when i start it up hot. if i start my car after its been ran for a while it will do the same thing pretty much if i rev it up in neutral
