I have been seriously looking for a Mustang for about eight months and have not found one yet. I am open from a 1986-2004 I thought it would be a little easier. I dont want to spend that much money so pretty much any 4.6 is out of the question but I have looked at many fox body's and all need to much work or are already sold by the time I call:( Today i looked at a 86 Gt that looked good from the road but needed some body work and the transmission felt loose not like any mustang I had driven before. They wanted $3200 for it. It had 95k on it with T-tops that didnt seem to leak I was surprised.

Im located in Illinois, which is one reason the cars are in such bad shape from the winters:nonono: I would pic this car up but I dont think I want to put an additional 1k in body work then a new paint job and then possibly need a new transmission. It would be an expensive car in the end and not even be modded or anything. They own a body shop so I am afraid of what they were able to hide. Especially if they didnt hide the other sstuff.

all through high school i wanted a mustang. i finally got a job and decided i'd start saving. i must've looked for at least 2 years at so many foxes it was driving me insane not having one. all the foxes in OH have been either (as u said) exposed to the winter or are so over priced its retarted. i just kept putting money aside so that when i found the one i knew i had to have, i could buy it. :D and eventually i did. lol im just in coolege now...long wait i guess.

i guess im just saying keep looking? i dunno where you're looking or what you're options are but maybe look in another state??? just make sure you get one that you will really enjoy and stick with the search. :nice:

it took me roughly 4 months to find a rust free car in Mass. It has only seen 1 winter, when my jeep broke down and i had no other choice. Take your time and wait till you find one for you. How much are you willing to spend, i had to shell our 4 grand 4 years ago. And the car was completely stock with 1 minor accident.

It can be tough to find the right ride for you...but when you find it you know....this has happened to me 2 times out of the 10 cars ive owned. I just picked up a 85 GT last week and now my search is over....but I was looking EVERYDAY for the past 3 months or so....I spent about 2-4 hours looking online everyday....checking every mustang forum i know daily, checking craigslist in close areas/states...checking the paper every time the classifieds are updated, checking autotrader, checking cars.com all those sites and of course the wantadpress...also ebay often...I did go look at a few mustangs and they were all either too expensive or were absolute junkboxes. I ended up finding my 85 gt on corral forums, and it was 2 hours from home. Good luck, you will find one soon!

It took me almost 2 years of looking on/off before I found mine, and I found mine when I wasn't really looking for one!
My wife and I were heading up to Syracuse to see relatives when I spotted it. Needless to say, I was late to my Aunts house. Oops!

Ya the worst thing you can do is just setttle for one. You'll regret it later. Hang in there, it'll be worth it when you find the right one. :nice:

Finding the right car is almost like finding the right girl...don't settle.

Yeah I know it will probably come to me. If I get a fox body Mustang I will probably only want to spend up to 5k but it would have to be nice and it wouldnt be a daily driver. On a 4.6 I might go up to 7k but would want it to be in good shape and under 100k on the car. If I wate till mid summer when I turn 18 I could save up more and put a down payment on one, and then sell the car I have now to help pay for it but I was looking to pay cash for a car.
