So after about a month of back n forth with the body shop an insurance company they decided today that my car is a total loss...the car was a 2002 true blue gt...so im goin to find out what their gonna gimme for it next week im guessing somewhere in the $9k - $10k range but not sure..

heres my delema...i deffinatly want to get another mustang..but i dunno what to do..

option A - get another gt

was looking at this one http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/405068646.html

option B - upgrade to a terminator and put my 10k or so as a down payment...however im unsure what my monthly payments would be an insurance is the other thing to think about

what do you guyz think?

any input is appreciated

Aw, that's a shame. Another True Blue GT dead. I totalled mine earlier this year. I got about 3500 back from the insurance company, and the car back. That is, after they paid off the finance. Sold the wreck with all the goodies for 5,000 and bought this piece of crap Sonic Blue GT. I took a step backwards, because I was too impatient and wanted another Stang bad. 90 days was too long to drive the Foc-ass and the Suzuki every day. Ended up with a car one year newer, but a terribly scratched paint job, more miles, and a bad throwout bearing and driver's front wheel bearing. Take your time in looking for a new one, and don't settle for something. I swore that I would end up in any 32 valve, and look at me now.

It's usually dependant on the insurance company. I had Allstate, and if I owed nothing on the car and they kept it, I would have ended up with 14,500. It had 70,000 miles, and it was a fully loaded 01 GT.

With $10K down on a $25K Cobra, your looking at around a $325-$350 a month payment depending on the APR. I think I paid $325 a month on my '00 F-150 with 4.9% APR (4 year loan). afew years back. Your insurance is probably going to be bad upgrading to a '03-'04 Cobra with alot of tickets already on the books. A Mach won't be any better for insurance. I'm old so my insurance is damn cheap for my Mach. ($350 every 6 months full coverage )

I had an 03 Cobra 10 year ragtop and was paying 820 a year with Geico and I was only 29 when I owned it. I am 32 now and pay 824 for my 96 Cobra (go figure).Basic finance for normal credit is $25 per mth/ per $1000 financed ove a five year loan. It is not exact, just a rough rule of thumb. Better credit figure $20 per, worse credit mabey as high as $30 per mth for every $1000. Because of their value 03-04 Cobras could still be financed for that long.

i would consider it but its an auto...but i really got my sights set on this white 03 cobra on black cobra rims, comes with some 1200 dolllar rpm kit that he never put on the car, brand new DRs that never been mounted 48k miles for $22k..pretty amazing price for an unmolested termie in california..im go look at it next week..

This is a good rule of thumb when calculating what your monthly payments would be to see what you can afford. That GT is damn clean and pretty nice (love the bassani addition). I think if my stang was lost, I would be on the lookout for a clean bullitt, Mach or SN95 saleen. Good luck on getting a Cobra if the finances work out for you.

my .02-

Dont get in over your head on a car you really cant afford. If you can great but if it barely works on paper then it is worse in reality. I would much rather buy a GT/bullitt/mach with payments I could easily afford and add a bunch of bolt ons than a 03/04 termie with payments I could barely afford and not be able to work on at all. They are pretty well setup new from the box but everyone has their quirks and as soon as the modding bug bites it just keeps on biting.
Hope that helps.
oh and 22 yoa male with a termie and an accident on record isnt going to be cheap on the insurance side either.

4 speeding tickets under the last year, I live in cali (nor cal) have a gt im 27 and my insurance is around 270 a month... do the math , a termi might run you around 300+ a month for insurance. BUT..... if you making 3 times the amount of your car payment and insurance in one check ..I say the hell with it, get the termi and be done with it!

a rough estimate is 100 a month for every 5000 borrowed...add a few bucks a month for interest.

Killer deal! I would get it in a heart beat! If you drop 10k down you could have a payment as low as $240 p/m with good credit. If you said insurance should cost you what $2800 a year You are right in your budget, and yes the Eaton will make you smile everytime you push the loud pedal
