So, I believe that I've found the reason that my car kept eating modules. The piece inside the distributor (which was a cheap, parts store replacement apparently) that the module plugs into is completely melted. The plastic is soft and sticky. Never seen that happen before. A buddy brought me a good OEM distributor. I slapped a new module on it (with heat sink paste!) and it runs better than ever!
