Loosen your radiator cap to take pressure off the system then you won't lose near as much when you pull off the hoses. If you leave the cap on it will shoot antifreeze everywhere!

You make it sound like he's working on the fuel or A/C refrigerant systems rather than the coolant system...

There's not THAT much pressure in the system, especially on the top-end where the heater hoses come off the heater pipe on top of the intake. It's not like there's 40 psi of pressure in there, or anything. The only way you're going to have coolant "shooting" out of the hoses is if you do something crazy like getting the car up to operating temp and then pulling the hoses while it's still running.

lol....got the heater core...such a lil thing that causes alot of problems...

id like to be able to see out of my windsheild....it dont look like its going to be hard to do...just time consuming...

Here in Arizona, you can get away with doing just that, actually. That's how I've managed the past couple of years in my notch.

Up yonder where Ryan's at ... nah. I'd sooner just bite the bullet and go through the hassle of swapping out the heater core than breaking snot-cicles off the tip of my nose and having to crank the radio up to hear the music over the noise of my chattering teeth.

I thought the same thing the first time I bought one. Just a cheap, simple little part, yet it can be so demanding if you aren't ready for the job. lol

I think the toughest part for me was getting the heater core out of the evaporator box, but putting it back in was easy.

thats not my problem...the problem is the damn A/C line..i think im just gonna delete the a/c.....unless i have any other options...? the a/c line is resting on the firewall and preventing me from droping the unit to pull the old core out and new one in...what are my options here...

NVM: i already got the a/c delete bracket that moves the P/S up so im just gonna do that saturday...anyone happen to know what size belt i need with just a deleted a/c? or should i just messaure it?

If you got an FRPP bracket, most parts places should have a factory non-A/C belt listing in there. Can't remember the exact length/part number right off hand, though, sorry...

You could always just cut the black box with a Dremel ... but be prepared for a bunch of dudes on here to start yelling at you about doing that.

I agree with Darkwriter77, theres not much pressure unless its realy hot, plus he has a leak so it's most likely not building any pressure to start with.

Id replace the hoses on the outside of the firewall while its apart.
Theyre less than $10 each.

nope havent touched it today...had to work....bought to go out then in a few though and try and finish it up....still have to go and get the two hoses though...

Cut the box, save the ac if possible, gets damn hot in the summer.

real easy. Cut th front off but leave just enough to get the rtv/silcone something to seal to. I cut mine my old car and it worked great.

i just cut the a/c line and ripped the box out.....my old heater core is nasty looking.....i can tell its been leaking for a bit...ill post a few pics if you guys wanna see
