01 GT Convertible... Ripped top in several spots thanks to a barbed wire fence and a previous owner that can't drive. The the power top contaption has a part that's missing that keeps it from working.

I've been thinking about doing away with the entire top completely and putting on a back and removable hard top. I've been searching frantically for a few days now for a kit for this, but to no avail I haven't found quite what I'm looking for. I've found a complete removable hard top from this web site.
Smooth Line: Hardtop: Mustang 1994-2004

I'm looking for something similar but I want this cut in half lol. And if the top could be glass that'd be great but I'm not picky. Ideal for the back would be to bolt in, possibly where the saleen bar would go...

About to give up on the search and build my own but I thought I'd try here first. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just got a small chubby and yes, however, bolt on would be preferred that way I've got the option of goin roadster if there were ever two days in a row that it didnt rain here in Arkansas...

I belive those are modded hard tops, I think targa top was covered in one of the big mustang magazines, a guys whole story of how he did it, kinda expensive procedure but definetly worth it i dont know any more information

Problem is fitment and getting the seals perfect since it wasn't like this from the factory. Going from convertible though is completely different as all of these were done with hardtops. I don't know even about how to go about doing this, you would have to get a donor car and cut the roof, attach it to yours, then have the targa done to that which would be a ton of work. They look killer but there is a reason they arn't making these kits, too many issues with fitment and just cost too much. I think back when they were selling them they were at 2500.

Are you going to do this yourself?

Think about rolling your car on the roof and then paying to get it fixed. That's pretty much what you are doing here. You will need to find a donor car, measure a million different times, cut, weld, and somehow paint it to look good. It will take a lot of work, and most of all, money.

Yes either do this with a kit or I'll cut a couple tops off doner cars and build my own. Either way it's been decided... for now lol. I definately have been finding that it'll lead into quite a bit of time and money but I'm prepared to at least scout the project. I'm pretty meticulous and pay attention to detail but I understand that it's a project that'll will challenge me.
An advantage that I have than a few other people who have done this, is I'm starting with a convertible, so my cuts won't necessarily be as gut wrenching lol... If I have to make my own that is. Plus I'd make my own bracket to have it bolt in so I can always switch back an forth... or at least that's what I'd want to do. Eeeeezy breezy right? lol

It seems the only company to have ever sold a kit for this in the past was "JCM". Around 1300 bucks or so I've heard... I'll try to find to verify.
