Hi all,
I have been leaning on and receiving lots of help from many of you over the past couple of months during the planning and now execution of my drivetrain upgrade project. This site has been great and the members really do care about helping each other. I finally got around to posting some pics of my ride along with some project update photos. I'll continue to post more to the site in the coming weeks, but thought you might like to see what you guys have been helping me with
:nice:

I am currently in the process of installing the JMC hydraulic clutch master cylinder while I have all the room. I have some concerns about how this mounts in the 68 as the mounting tabs/holes on the cylinder are vertical rather than horizontal. There is about 1/2 inch of metal between the existing clutch rod hole in the firewall and the speedo cable hole above it and I'm concerned this will just bee too weak even with the backing plate. Anyone else run into this and have pictures of how you solved it? I found may articles on this site on installing a hydraulic clutch, many have been home grown assemblies and not the JMC kit. I plan to take pictures and do a write up of my install to add to the library. Feedback welcomed.

mustangdave - Thanks. I used 3M black etching primer from a rattle can. I really liked the look of it when I sprayed it on, but you won't get the durability or ability to clean it like the gloss black. I used PPG single stage gloss black for the finish coat. I forget the specific name, but could look when I get home, PM me if you want it. They offer 3 stages of quality/durability and I chose the top shelf stuff. Cost about $100 for a quart and I had some left over after spraying 3 coats. It's supposed to be very durable and should hold up for a while.

LMan - thanks, I have been all over that site and read the articles he linked to as well. This was all very helpful, but none of them seemed to address the very issue I am facing. I'm wondering if I can just rotate the cylinder a few degrees to the point that the resevior nipple is still on top, but titled slightly, maybe 60 degrees? Would like to hear from someone who installed this in a 68 already to see if this was an issue for them.

I wouldn't recommend tilting it, that will cause a bad angle and the pushrod will grind, you will hear it and feel it. What I did was put mine farther away and linked it to the pedal via washers and a bolt. Gives me the perfect angle and no problems.

I wasn't suggesting to tilt it, but rather rotate it a few degrees so the bolt holes would be located in an area with more metal on the firewall. Do you have any pictures of your setup?
