something inside the headlight lense

well i checked the oil again this morning and i was happy that i haven't used a drop since the last change, (my 90 gt has almost 170,000 miles on it). When i slammed my hood shut i hear something rattle in the headlight so i looked in through the lense and there is some sort of bracket or something laying inside the lense, i checked the other side to and it also had the same bracket piece laying there. My question is what are they supposed to be attached to and whey are they laying there at the bottom of the light?

Is it a chrome bracket? I had the same thing part in one of my head lights also. Dunno what it was from, but I changed them since then.

it goes above the bulb if i remember correctly. my guess is its there to keep the build from melting the plastic

I had the same thing floating around in one of my lenses. I had to bend it with a pair of needlenose pliers to get it to fit through the hole.
