Gotta v2 s trim, and on the way to work today, it started howling a little, and on the way home sounded like a full blown bad bearing. Sounds aweful. I pulled the oil feed line made sure it was getting oil, it is. So im guessing its just a bearing that needs replaced, dont think any gears are damaged. Any body got any rough ideas what this is gonna cost?

Yep my motor has never revved passed 5600 rpm. Sucks balls. I took the cover off just to inspect, theres the big gear and underneath is the small gear and the bottom bearing looks to be missing 2 maybe 3 little ball bearings inside.. have no idea why or where they are but, I just got off the phone with Vortech, they said it sounds like it may just need a minor rebuild considering no gears are damaged. That said, a minor rebuild is 375, so better than i thought, still sucks, Im outta service for awhile. To many bills to pay!!!!

Just gotta remember with 500 rwhp, $h!ts gonna happen!! Could be worse!

So these missing ball bearings have me worried, where are they?? Its not on the side with the drain pipe,so i assume its not in the oil pan.But im affraid to take the blower apart anymore to find out what went wrong. Theres no way a bearing could fall out and get blown in the motor could it?

I highyl doubt they would make it to the motor, I think Vortech has a magnet inside the case to catch debris, they may be there... You may not be missing any balls it depends what type of bearing it is.... Dont take it any further apart, this way if there was an issue that caused the bearing they can see it as they take it apart. It also is easier for them to blame more on you once you start disassembling things...

The T-trim upgrade might only cost you $400 more

Yeah Im not messin with it anymore, its not missing any ball bearings, the small bearing cage broke apart and all the bearings are just rolling around freely making it looks like there are some missing ball bearings! Looks like only 1 bearing is bad from what I can see.

roughly 6000 miles on it!!! Whatever its gettin rebuilt and im gonna be back at it again! Guy from Vortech told me sounds like you ran into some bad luck. He sad with my pulley size "2.95" and 6200 rpm, which ive never even been close to, Im not even close to over spinning it the blower!!! Luck of the Irish i guess!!

You can replace the bearings for fairly cheap. If I can find the write ups from another site, I will PM you the details and specific part numbers. I believe it ran around $50-80 for the bearings, and you need a press, and patience.

Vortech's 'minor' is just seals, not bearing replacement. Major includes seals + bearings.

With him not spinning it, ABEC-5's would probably be 'ok'. They run ~$150. ABEC-7s are the costly ones... $250+ (these are your 'small' bearings, the high speed bearings... the large ones, the low speed bearings, the ones you described with the bearings that are gone are only in the ~$10 range... If you're blower is that new, (and with you not spinning it that hard) I'd probably just replace the seals and low speed bearing and not mess with high speed bearings.

Yeah what ^ He said. I agree with it. Unfortunately you won't know the damage until you open her up. (DOn't be scared.... it's easier than a hairdryer!)
