Sorrily sold my Mustang

I sold my 2006 Mustang a few days ago. It wasn't exactly what I expected it to be, and here are my complaints:

PRO: The styling is awesome, I love the look
PRO: It has great acceleration and keeps speed well

CON: Too cheap of an interior, I do not like plastic everywhere
CON: Everyone seems to have one
CON: The seats are uncomfortable for a somewhat tall man (6' 2")
CON: The backseats are only good for children

I got a fairly good price for my 'Stang, $26,500. I found a car that was suited toward everyday driving with a better interior, better exterior, and the fun to drive concept...1999 White Diamond Cadillac Eldorado ETC with 54,000 miles for $10,500. I also have $15,000 in my pocket!

I don't want to put anyone off the new Mustang because they are great cars, but not exactly practical for my daily driving.

This must have been your first mustang. B/C that interior is 10 times better than the sn95's. And everyone has one???WTF 2 of my local dealers doent even 3 GT's.
Backseat....Its a mustang,what do you expect for a performance car under $30,000

In the 41 year history of the Mustang, it has always been everything you described. My 65 is exactly as you descibed the 05.

That's a pretty expensive mistake to make on a new car.

Didn't you get to test drive one first to see how uncomfortable the front seats are, how small the back seats are, and how cheap the plastic is inside?

In the test drive, I absolutely loved the car, but after a few weeks it started to wear on me. It was getting old quick, and I always saw new Mustang's that looked liked mine! The major complaint is that interior, which has way to much skimp on quality material.

They need to get a contract with Bose to get a much better radio inside! The backseats are the same size on the Eldorado, so I cannot complain there, but the front seats need better support! I got -$2000 less than what I paid for this car (expensive mistake).

Seeing too many Mustangs like yours? Hmm... I've been driving my 05 around Phoenix for the last 8+ months and I'm lucky to see 1 05 Mustang every few days. And from my driving through North Scottsdale I've yet to see all that many of them either... Oh well different strokes for different folks!

I see a lot of Cadillac's also, but it's a great car to drive! I'm not a guy that modifies his cars', so a custom 'Stang would never be up my alley.

I drove this car after 2 weeks, and it started to wear (the look, interior), I need something that doesn't neccesarily have all the performance of a Mustang but a better interior and exterior.

Maybe you see so many stangs because Arizona has a big rental market. I see very few stang verts like mine in Atlanta, but on a recent trip to Fla I saw them everywhere.

I disagree on your seat objection; I'm 6'5" tall, and I fit great in the seats. The seats and fit have been one of the most pleasant surprises my stang has provided.

To each his own, but contrary to your experience, the longer I own and more I drive my stang, the more I like it, and I'm not a raving stang fan. I've owned a few, but not for the last 20 years, and for my money there is nothing remotely close for my $30 grand.

Well Speedy,

It's all good my friend. As long as you are happy with the Caddy, that is all that matters. The only person's opinion here that counts is yours.

On a side note - When you buy a Mustang - you buy it for the engine and the culture. We are not into Bling and Ford has NEVER used high grade materials in any of their interiors. If you want Supplt leather, Bose, Harmen Carden and bling- you do what you did and get a Cadillac.

I was with you until you said that. I don't care for either Mustang shaker and ordered the base stereo in my car, but every GM auto I've ever been in that had a bose system sounded like hiney. Good luck with the Caddy.

Well to start with the Mustang is no Cadillac and will never be thank godness. Most of us who buy Mustangs do not buy them for the fancy interior. If ford did all the upgrading to the interior that your talking about then they will price there self right out of the market or out of mine .So I'll keep my cheap interior and enjoy driving it.

One problem with the shaker system is that Delphi makes it and Delphi is owned by GM go figure that one.

I have to disagree with you on the Bose issue, I love it! The Bose combined with XM gives me a great sound quality!

I'm pretty sure the new Five Hundreds come with Bose systems. I at least saw one in a stock unit yesterday. Awesome touch screen stereo too....Looks like it'd fit in a mustang quite nicely. (Too fancy though..I'll stick with my iPod deck)

Have fun in your Caddy. Like I said in another thread, some Caddys are real nice. But didn't you say when you got your Mustang you were looking for something to compete with your dad's car or something? What give in or something? Get mocked too much by the old man? Or was there something else behind it? Ah well. Enjoy your GM!

I don't have the cash to compete with my Father's Porsche, and I probably never will (darn). I still like Mustang's, but it wasn't a pratical car to drive everyday to work for myself at least.

If I had say....$5,000,000 to buy cars with, then I would have everything from a Mustang to a Porsche, Cadillac to a Ferrari.

According to the BOSE web site the only Ford cars with BOSE stereo's have MAZDA insignia on them.

And I, for one, am thankful for that!! I've never understood why people would pay that much money for middle-of-the-road audio gear.
