Has anyone tried Line-X or Rhino Vinyl on their floorboards? I know these are intended for truck bed liners, but they look like they would work great for sealing and insulation purposes.

That's what I was thinking about doing. And skipping the whole carpet thing.

Lizard Skin is the best product out there right now.... It is a soundeadner, heat reducer and sealer. I use this on all my cars that I restore here at my shop.

You can find it here..... http://www.chillylizard.com/LizardSkin.html
Here is another shop that uses it and has some pictures and info too...

I am extremely impressed with this product... If your floor board are bare with no seem sealer than you can spray this down and seamsealer is not needed. This product is also sandable. I am restoring a truck for drive magazine and we used this product in the engine compartment and in the cab. we sanded it smooth and painted over it and you cannot even tell... Hope this helps

I sell a product by Stinger called the "RoadKill Carpet Pad". You can see it here http://www.stingerelectronics.com/web/prods/roadkill.asp . If enough people were interested, I could create a group buy for it and knock quite a bit off the price. I can also get any of the products listed on that page to include in a group buy if anyone is interested.

A couple years ago I used FatMat on my 84 Tbird. I put 2 12" subs in the trunk, and it rattled real bad. I did the doors and rear seat area, plus trunk lid and walls. It did take care of the major rattles, and the doors had more a thud. I sold the car, which was black, but still see it. Even through 2 summers its still hanging on to the trunk lid and no drips. 100 sqft was waaay too much for one car, I also did my brothers volvo, and had enough left over for the floor and doors of my 78 f250. The truck had the most noticeable gain, since the 35s and road noise made it loud. Too be honest, I just ordered the $55 trunk kit from FatMat.com and am planning to nicely do my mustangs trunk lid and doors, plus the sheet of metal behind the rear seat that is my fireproofer. No real bad smells at all, although it is somewhat noticable at first. Overall pretty good stuff, but go easy, its starts to add alot of extra weight.

I used the Fatmat type stuff in an older truck I had a while ago and it worked well and never smelled at all, I'd buy it again.
