I have a 2004 Mustang GT with no engine mods other than C&L cool air intake. When I revv the engine I get a whoosh sound for about 2 seconds right behind the engine. Any thoughts on what that may be? This is my first foray into the Mustang world bought it 4 months ago.

Thank in advance for ANY help.

i know what sound your refering too. i dont know if its normal but when i presses the gas i can hear the air being sucked into the intake. its loud and sounds cool. i still dont know if its normal to hear that swooosh sound

Yeah, if you have a CAI or if the stock resonater is removed you will hear the intake when it gulps in air. Its the sound of the air accelerating into the plenum, its just part of the design to speed the air up going into the combustion chamber :nice:

I have a strange whining noise coming from my engine when I rev it. This noise started happening spontaneously around the end of January...:D

OP, like everyone else said, that's just intake noise. Most enthusiasts like the sound :nice:

Well a whining noise is distinctly different from the cai intake noise and is possibly a bearing in the alternator or a pulley goin out if the whine increases with engine rpm.

and this can be bad for your charging system and seepentine belt among other things. just take it to your local shop if your not too savy with these systems and they can tell real easy and save you from a no start one morning. this can also damage your battery too if alternator cant charge it properly and we all know those arent gettin any cheaper.

i think he was making a reference to the noise his supercharger made.

Hence him adding the :D on the end. That meens he is joking. :nice:

I see chrome Cobra replicas in your avatar. You have a Cobra too..... wait, you would know the whine sound then :rlaugh:
Seriously though, any pics of your toy?

Yes, I have added some. Since I'm new I'm not too familiar with the forums functions so here is the link to them:

That is a damn fine looking car! :nice: Love the seats, they look supportive and comfertable. What air box is that?

I see you have the C&L plenum (or whatever its called that the t-body attaches to). My buddy has that too and every Stang I have seen that on has a very loud intake whoosh. If you want to quiet that down you will beed the stock piece as well as the stock intake tubing. I amsure you can find someone on here to trade you :nice:
