speed cable bolt size

i went and got bolt size 1/4 -20x 3/4 and its to small and falls out the hole. its for a stock t5 trans. this is what bolt size there saying to use

Should be the correct bolt specs.

bolt doesnt tighten just falls out the hole not sure its a dorman 1/4"-20x3/4 hex head cap screw if that helps

If you're sure the bolt you got is the right size then it could be someone previously stripped out the hole and tapped it for a larger size. If that's the case then you're going to have to try an assortment of different bolt sizes.
