Drivetrain Speedometer Shop used grease, need to clean cable?

Local speedo shop used what I think is Lucas Oil Red N Tacky on my new cable and housing. From what I've read on this site people say to use graphite only. I was hoping to get a couple things confirmed.

1. Should I worry about the grease? If so, would spraying carb cleaner down the housing and letting it drip dry work well enough?

2. From Jrichkers posts it seems he's recommends using DRY graphite, and not graphite OIL. Is that correct?

I've taken this damn cluster and speedo cable off too many times. I want to make sure it goes back together correctly so I don't have to mess with it any more.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Kartheif - is the recommendation for DRY graphite or graphite OIL? Ill post the 2 different kinds at the end of this post.

Yep. Had speedo rebuilt to fix bounce. Installed it and still had slight shake. Traced the issue to the new cable I bought online. He then built me a new cable and housing, but used the grease instead.

ATF tends to leak into the cable through the VSS if equipped. Unsure how far up the cable it makes due to gravity though.

You can pull one end through if one side isn't connected and pull the innet cable out and wipe it down.

I run my cables dry
