Spongy Clutch

I was driving yesterday and I noticed that the clutch feels kind of spongy. Almost similiar to if you do several high speed stops and then feel the brake fade. It also doesn't seem to grab like it did a few days ago. The clutch also feels easier to push in. Is the clutch dying? I've adjusted the clutch pedal (pull up, push down) and it seemed to help a smidgen but not a lot.

Mine has felt the same way for the last month or so.I hate to replace a clutch if it isn't slipping, but I don't know if it is my imagination or not.Hopefully someone has some insight.

Mine also does this sometimes. But it grabs just as hard as ever.

not to change topics...but my girlfriend and i came across a 2000 GT Vert (Aztec Gold/Black top, leather interior) with every option, 5 speed , and she wants it. We talked pricing and such. The car has 48K on it and i talked him from 15,995 down to 14,800. I really want to buy the car based on the price, but the clutch worries me. Basically it catches pretty high, and if i get on the gas and push the clutch in, what feels to be 1/2 inch, it slips. I know this isn't good for a clutch, but thats how i always test them. First question, she does mostly highway driving, how much life does it have left? Next question, do you think we got a good deal? any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

my clutch goes through this every once in a while. Sometimes it will have a great, solid feel to it, and then without warning will feel spongy and like its sliping. It will do this for a while and then feel great again.

Y'all are adjusting your clutch/quadrant aren't you?

the stock plastic quadrant is a POS.....get an aftermarket adjustable quad and it will go away

It just needs to be adjusted. My clutch is not slipping at all. Can anyone reccomend a good adjuster???

Yes, the factory one is a pos and should be taken off after buying the car that day and thrown down in the woods as far as you can. All of the top companies that make these things are good, just take your pick.

It has gone back to normal. It feels spongy ever now and then since then but it still grips hard as ever (even harder it seems at times than normal). I did adjust the clutch and will look into a steeda quadrant later. Thanks guys!

I'm swapping cars with a friend for a couple of days to see if it's my imagination or not.It'll probably go back to normal on the way to his house.
