Springs

Soon I want to drop my 1996 GT Coupe.I only want a 75."-1" drop and
I wanted to know how the Bullet and Mach1 springs performance were? Anyone with a 96-98 GT Coupe have Bullet or Mach1 springs on there stang? How much do they drop too total? Witch one is better for straight line performance?
Will they both hurt me off the line or worsen my 60ft times? I need some
spring set that performs good in straight line and carving corners.I would
highly appreciate knowledgable replys thanks.

I know people say dont do it but i just cut 1 coil from my stock springs in the front and it lowered it 1" the ride is basically the same as before and it added a little more spring rate.

I read somewhere that the spring rates will actually get softer as you cut coils. (So the more you cut, the softer the spring). Is this not true?

The more you cut the springs the softer they get I
belive.I am not cutting my stock springs because it isn't safe.I am thinking
about getting the Mach 1 springs but,I would like more info if everyone
has it!

I have a Mach1 and I believe it's 1/2" lower than the GT. I think you would be dissapointed with them. If I were you I would get either H&R sport springs or the eibach pro kit. If money is an issue I had Ford C springs (good price) on an 01 GT I used to have that lowered the front 1.25 and the rear about 3/4". If you wanted it lower in the back you could always cut it.

All I am looking for is a 1/2"-1" drop total all the way around.Money
isn't a issue.H&R's and Eibach's will drop it to much and I will scrape
the bottom of my stang everytime on my driveway if it's more than 1".
I need info on the Bullitt and Mach 1 springs on how they performance.
Also,I am open for comments or idea's.What is the difference between
FMS C springs and FMS B springs? What kind of drop do they give for a
96-98 Coupe? What total drop do they give? What is the performance
quality like with these springs?

Darkhorse, I am in the same boat as you. I don't like how tall my stang is, but I don't want to slam it. My driveway is real steep and alot of the roads around here are real crappy and I don't want to be scraping it up big time. If anyone has some comparison pics of stock GTs compared to with diff. spring setups that would be great. You all got me interested in the Bullitt/mach 1 setup now....and I need something that is comfortable too.

Here is a pic of mine with the Bullitt springs on my '98 body style. Took away the 4x4 look, added some handling and reduced the brake dive big time. I would like it just a little lower though, maybe the Steeda springs.........
