sputter at 3 grand??

i just cleaned my whole engine and made sure i covered all the major electrical things that might get wet....well now when i drive the car breaks up at like 3 grand all the way too almost 5...and its like off and on....what in the hell could it be.....all the hoses are together and everything...im lost...help asap

sounds like your not getting full sprak. Try pushing down on each of the sprak plug rubber boots to make sure u have a full seal.

ps - it starts and idles like a dream and even drives fine if i go easy to 2500 but a soon as i give it gas she breaks up

Water in the plug wells or the coil packs. The plug wells are so damn deep on these engines it can just pool up in there.

I would spray some WD 40 on each plug wire attatching to the coil pack, and then check and see if the plug wells are wet. If so, sop it up with a rolled up paper towl to reach down there and then hit it with some WD 40.

Blow the plug wells out with compressed air.
Dry the coils with WD40 as stated and apply a light coat of dialectric grease to the boots.
Been there done that.

I had the same problem after running some 87 octane gas. I thought that was the problem but it persisted. So i changed the spark plugs and it was stronger than ever. So +1 for some kind of spark plug problem. Might as well change them while your at it.

I was thinking fuel filter or pump but you said you washed your engine bay so its probably the plugs. check the spark plug wells for water like everyone said. blow it out wth compressed air or soak it up with a towel.
