OK, oh gurus of the 4.6, I am having a serious problem that is thus far kicking my butt: after driving my car for an hour or so, it will start to sputter and hesitate under half-to-full throttle... it first starts to happen at over 4000 RPM, and it'll stop if I let off the throttle some... but then progressively worsens until it starts to do it around 3000 RPM, until the point to where the car will die with any throttle input. No SES light or codes. I already changed plugs, fuel filter, and after many people recommended it to me, I changed the MAF sensor... to no avail. Weather conditions don't seem to be a factor... it does it when it's cool, when it's hot, when it's raining, whatever. If I pull the fuses for the computer and let it sit awhile, it'll run OK for awhile... but always ends up doing the same thing. OMG, please help!!! Anything you can say to help would be very... helpful. Thanks fellas!

How's your intake look? Is it cracked anywhere?

Well, from what I can see of the intake, I don't see any cracks. Are there certain areas that are more prone to cracking that I should look at more closely? I assumed that since "resetting" the computer makes it go away for awhile, that this problem was computer or sensor-related, so I hadn't even looked at the intake before now.

Thanks for the help so far fellas!

Regular maintenance getting done? Like fuel filter? That one comes to mind first...I'd start with things like this...the small, easy to replace, cheap stuff...

My bad... I should have mentioned that the first thing I replaced was the fuel filter... no improvement. And I know what you mean about replacing the cheap stuff first... that MAF sensor was $115!! OUCH!!

I was that guy. I replaced all that stuff too. It turned out to be fuel pump. Took it to a shop and they measured fuel pressure and volume at the rail to diagnose this problem.

There are three things that make any car run, fuel, air, and spark. My guess is it's one of those things . Check to see if your plugs are bad, it doesn't sound like it but you never know. I had a similar problem and it was my O2 sensors. I would lose power and the car would feel sluggish. One of my extensions was bad. Like the boys have said, check the easy stuff first, plug wires, plugs, that sort of stuff. You just may have a bad plug wire.

Edit: Check the battery as well, if it isn't new it may be low or need replacing. that was my other problem that was similar to yours except my volts would jump around a little. i never checked the battery until almost last even after people on here suggested it because the battery wasn't even 6 months old. . Sure enough, battery was cracked and leaking.
